the veil

1509 Belleville St, Richmond, VA

In a neighborhood riddled with breweries, one would think it may be difficult to stand out. Even before The Veil Brewing Co. debuted its stunning new location, it always boasted a trendy yet no-nonsense atmosphere. The vast selection of hoppy brews should appease even the snobbiest beer aficionado.

The industrial interior of The Veil has plenty of character and sprinkles of warmth placed sporadically throughout. The large neon light artwork on its main seating area's back wall casts a red hue out on a long row of booths and carefully placed framed prints. There is a bit of a naturalistic touch with the animal heads protruding from the walls and a life-size bear greeting patrons right at the front door. The bathrooms have a double sided vanity with sinks in the center, which is somewhat reminiscent of a club.

Not only are there ample beer options, but there is also wine, cocktails, and even kombucha if you're not drinking the hard stuff. The Veil has fun with their craft and it is blatantly evident. The introduction of Asian fusion Nōkōribi is a welcome one, catering to our desire to indulge in some grub whilst sipping our brew. Something about pairing flavorful and spicy bites with a cold one is magical. Forgive me for the following wordplay, but The Veil should be unveiled to you if you have yet to check it out.
