It has likely been made apparent that this shaky cam quite enjoys intimate, cozy, and local restaurants in Richmond. We're back in Church Hill for another treat, the Roosevelt. The menu is inventive but still familiar and comfortable, most dishes are a twist on southern fare. It's basic, but I love their fries too.

As in all restaurants with limited seating, the option to sit at the bar when you're in a pinch but still don't want to skimp on quality is an appealing one indeed. I loved the vibrant backsplash lights where the liquor sat displayed behind the bar. It seemed that the staff really took pride in their work and were knowledgeable when we asked questions about the menu. What's also great about sitting at the bar is service seems perhaps a bit more prompt, not that waiting in an inviting atmosphere is grueling at all.
I had heard much praise about the Roosevelt before I was able to go to see for myself. I must say I was not disappointed. The dim lighting pouring out of gorgeous light fixtures gave me an instant warm feeling, and the drinks did too, there was no lack there. For a proper date night where you want to impress and not sacrifice comfort, I would say these digs rank high. If you're just popping around Church Hill and want a drink and some grub, the Roosevelt certainly should be top consideration.
