201 W Broad St, Richmond, VA
A hotel in close proximity to a highly regarded and historical hotel that is the Jefferson is known as Quirk, and its youthful and fun presentation is a welcome change from the adorned and classic aforementioned Jefferson. The main lobby area upon entering is where you can grab a quick drink.
The Quirk Hotel has a location in Charlottesville as well, which speaks to its branding and overall presence within Virginia at large. The bar is vibrant with pops of their signature color pink blended beautifully with otherwise clean and modern colors and details. The drink menu is quite expansive as expected, and the staff does a good job at making even the guests who are not checking into the hotel feel taken care of. Quirk offers a lot of interesting starters to snack on, like a spanakopita dip.
It was fun to cap off our evening by perusing around the open sections of the hotel. Pictured below is what I thought to be a delightfully bizarre piece of art depicting a cat holding what appears to be a toy octopus. Details like this can be spotted all throughout the hotel it seems. The avant garde nature of this space is not too in your face, but it makes itself known by popping in strange images as such. In the future it would be fun to actually stay at Quirk, but in the meantime, lounging around the bar will suffice.
