Sushi in a city may seem like a dime a dozen, but with the proper atmosphere, you can turn your experience into an Experience (with a capital E). Lucky Asian Fusion, or rather, Lucky AF has a clean and modern design inside and outside, with amazing happy hour cocktails and sushi rolls alike.

The cherry blossom string lights intertwined around paper lanterns in the main dining area add a cozy touch to an overall simple interior. A mural of beckoning cats lines the exterior of this Scott's Addition gem. Repurposed Hardywood beer bottles are used to house soy sauce on the tables. The menu is vast and the happy hour deals are nothing to scoff at. The staff has been friendly and attentive when I have visited. I am keen on ordering miso soup when I get sushi, and it's always out hot and fast.

The cheeky name of this restaurant is just the beginning of its array of clever names for rolls and drinks. There is a full bar that people can sit at during busier times when the tables may be otherwise occupied. The dim lighting sets the scene as both romantic yet casual. The fish has never seemed too fishy (you know, to the point where it's questionable) so it seems freshness is not lacking either. While there may be other equally fresh options for sushi in Richmond, the overall aura of Lucky AF has to take the cake.
