Before Lost Letter, we had Longoven. Longoven is often described as a restaurant that was very nice, but almost too nice for Richmond. Lost Letter is teetering that line, but what I think makes it work is that the staff does not present overly pretentious, they are inviting and have a wonderful sense of humor.

This is absolutely the type of restaurant where a quick glance of the menu will have you overwhelmed in the sense that you could blindly select a dish and it would be fantastic. It's as though you want to tell the staff to send out one of everything. For my main event, I opted for the gnudi, and when I tell you each bite felt like a heavenly miniature pillow in my mouth, I'm 100% serious. "Luxurious" is an understatement. I loved the nutty flavor paired with the gorgonzola, and the presentation was on point.
We sat back in the main dining area, but upon walking in you are greeted with a gorgeous bar area with additional seating. The massive glass window peering out to the outdoor seating area was impeccable, not a smudge in sight. It made the flow between the outdoor and indoor space very seamless. The open kitchen in the far back reminded me of more upscale restaurants in larger cities. I commend Lost Letter for being an elevated and worthy option, but not succumbing too far into hoity toity territory.
