laura lee's

At this point it is probably clear I am a sucker for a restaurant that is decked out in eclectic, aesthetically pleasing decor that also happens to serve thoughtfully crafted food and drink. Even before you step inside Laura Lee's it is evident there is a cute, warm aura radiating directly from the premises.

We began with fried oysters, a fresh tomato and watermelon salad, and milk bread with whipped honey butter. Everything was pleasant but particularly the oysters. I ordered a drink made with Empress Gin which stands out due to its purple hue. It was beautifully adorned with a blood orange wedge and a strand of rosemary. There is a wall that divides the bar side which is where you first funnel in and the dining side. An array of paintings and drawings are on the back wall where large plush booths are.

There was a warm glow from both the tiny candles that sit atop the tables and the little lantern shaped lights lining the ceiling. The environment is inviting and engrossing in that there are a number of local pieces one can sus out from all of the artwork. Laura Lee's can make for a cute date night or an evening out with a larger group. They offer Americanos on their menu rather than merely a black coffee, which is often my favorite way to top off a meal. With great menu options and a cozy setting, what's not to love?
