A (horned up nerdy) gamer's paradise exists delightfully within Scott's Addition's very own Dawnstar Video Games. Specializing in retro gaming consoles and handhelds, Dawnstar still offers modern favorites to appeal to those who might not be quite as nostalgic. For those like myself who tend to relish in nostalgia, the entire aura of this video game store and its arcade feels like a nice warm fuzzy blanket.
In addition to your Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, or long forgotten Sega devices and respective games - you'll find an abundance of beautiful Pokémon trading cards, gaming magazines, toy hentai dolls, plushies, and more. Every inch of the store has something new to catch the eye. There are cute hanging lights loosely fixed above the massive shelves housing lines of games. The Starcade is $10 for unlimited fun, the glowing neon lights of the machines transport you back to a circa 1980s arcade essence.
This store is special for myriad reasons, but namely its ownership. Local businesses typically have a lot of heart by nature, and Dawnstar's heart radiates thanks to the three incredible individuals who grew the business to be what it is. Weekly Super Smash Bros. tournaments at The Answer further illuminate the sense of community that exists here. The tournaments are also sometimes taken on the road to various other cities. So again, whether you're a (horned up nerdy) gamer or not, pay this great place a visit.
