cobra burger

400 N 27th St, Richmond, VA

Have you ever had a cheeseburger that was metal AF? It's doubtful that you have unless you've frequented Church Hill's very own Cobra Burger. In a neighborhood full of good company, Cobra Burger still stands out as the oftentimes abrasive yet creative and flavorful smash burger joint.

I have visited Cobra Burger a number of times over the years, and I've made it a tradition to pick up my food and head over to the nearby Jefferson Park to enjoy my meal. The cobra sauce is quite literally to die for so I am always sure to ask for extra sauce to douse my fries in. The fries are great and are always given in abundance. The burger options are fun and sometimes even daring, but bear in mind that these guy are not Burger King and you cannot have it your way... take it for what it is or buzz off.

Heavy metal music blares through the speakers and some of the decor (pictured below) is on the border of offensive and hilarious. Some of the negative reviews on Google have replies from the owner that are downright snarky, but a part of me admires their unapologetic nature. I also appreciated the fact that they have a bin for composting in the restaurant. The darkness of the interior does not reflect the light of your life that you may indeed find in your burger, so I say ignore the venom and indulge.
