buddy's

600 N Sheppard St, Richmond, VA

What do most people look for in a neighborhood bar? I know for me, it's nice to get to know the staff on a quasi personal level for starters. It's also nice when there are enticing happy hour deals, and being able to exist in almost a dive-y atmosphere while sipping your happy hour drink is certainly welcomed.

Buddy's is tucked away in the Museum District and it is precisely what one would want in their neighborhood bar. Between the eclectic artwork, pictures, (and animals) on the wall, the friendly familiar faces you see, and the heartily poured beverages... what more could one possibly need? I've been to Buddy's countless times with my boyfriend since he lives just a block away. We've been there early for a bite of brunch and until they shut the joint down at night. To us, it's always an ideal time to drop on in.

The food is fried, greasy, and oftentimes "loaded" (cheese, bacon, peppers, yadda yadda), which is again all I could personally want from a bar. I'm quite fond of their tots given their exceptional crispiness. The prices are right and happy hour lasts HOURS on most days, lasting from a whopping 11 am to 7 pm. The staff always makes us feel at home. In the summertime, they have crab dinners that are a lot of fun to do with a group of friends (or buddies, if you will). Buddy's is not a place you want to miss!
