brenner pass

3200 Rockbridge St #100, Richmond, VA

The beauty that is the Alpine region is the inspiration for Scott's Addition's Brenner Pass (the namesake being a mountain pass in Italy). I was admittedly buzzing with excitement to try out Brenner Pass, since I had long admired it from afar. I frequented Chairlift when it was still the adjoining business, and would peak curiously over at Brenner, wondering to myself if it was worth the hype.

The menu is seasonal and it is evident each ingredient is carefully and thoughtfully selected. After noting that there really wasn't a bad option on the menu, we went with fondue (gruyère and emmentaler) and a beet salad to start, ensuring not to waste a bite. We finished with a mushroom risotto (with black truffle!) and lamb gnocchi (with anchovy breadcrumbs!)

The atmosphere within the space is intimate, clean, and modern despite its commercial building shell. A tiny glistening candle adds a dash of moodiness. The cocktails are generous and innovative, flavorful

and fanciful. The cheesecake we had for dessert was derived from goat cheese. Albeit pricey, the experience is worthwhile and the presentation is on point, making anyone feel at least a touch boujee.
