Birdie's resides in the lower level of Common House and boasts delicious cocktails (especially their martinis) and is described as an oyster bar. For the holiday season this year, Birdie's unveiled a stunning pop up called The Evergreen. Each and every last finishing touch to spruce things up is perfection.
We kept our orders simple and focused largely on the speciality drinks for the season. This spot is small but it is clearly full of heart. Gorgeous multicolored lights streamed across the ceiling and down from the back of the bar. There was a relic known as a box TV in the corner that was playing classic cartoon Christmas specials. When it comes to capturing the essence of something, The Evergreen essentially was living, breathing, even oozing Christmastime and all the childhood nostalgia that often comes with it. The bar is first come but the reservations for a table were quickly filled up, making the visit coveted.
Although Birdie's is delightful to visit year round, the festive flair they've given to us with The Evergreen is worthy of exploration. Even if you did want to stop in for a drink and skip the food, you could still soak in some holiday spirit (in ways more than one). The service was good, we did not have to sit around and wait to try new drinks... which I was certainly eager to do. There are a number of restaruants that get a special glow this time of year, but I would argue that Birdie's The Evergreen nearly tops the list.
